Why I Wear Green
There’s a saying, “where you plant, you grow,” and my roots with UND are deep. I feel fortunate to have grown up in Grand Forks and am proud to be a graduate of UND, a world-class university. The UND experience is special and unique, and the positive synergy with students, faculty, alumni and the UND community – who together make a difference – continues to inspire me. Many members of my family and extended family were UND student-athletes, so I enjoy football, basketball and, of course, UND hockey with family and friends.
With a spirit of innovation and an eye for the talent of the future, Mary is ideally suited for her job. She spends her workdays building relationships with donors, together seeking to impact the workforce and education needs of the UND School of Graduate Studies’ and advance the mission – to create and develop innovative ideas, services and businesses – of the Center for Innovation.
Mary is active! When she’s not at work, she likes to travel, golf, hike and cook for a crowd. She is married to Scott, a former UND football player. They have two adult sons.
- BA, Broadcast Journalism, University of North Dakota
- MA, Business Communication, University of St. Thomas
The foundation of Mary’s career took shape through her role at UND’s Studio 1. During her days as an undergrad, she shared stories about the great things happening on campus. Throughout her career, she has continued to showcase innovators and thought leaders. Now, as a UNDAAF employee, Mary is able to build on that. “I love sharing about genuine, innovative and driven people who impact the world and UND is front and center,” she said. “It’s an honor to bring those stories to life in a whole new way.”
