Alumni Honors Nomination
The Award for Distinguished Achievement and Leadership and Young Alumni Achievement Award are given to multiple recipients annually as part of the University’s Homecoming celebration in the fall. Recipients are nominated by fellow alumni, faculty, students, administration, or other professional acquaintances.
Deadline for nominations is mid-October for the following fall’s recipients. UND Alumni
Association & Foundation Board approval is required. UND Alumni Association & Foundation
management and Board leadership recommend recipients based on nominations best fitting
the criteria for each award.
Alumni Honors Guidelines
- Members of the Alumni Association, including graduates, former students, and friends, are eligible to receive the award.
- UND faculty and staff are not eligible to receive the award until two years after the end of their employment.
- Current Alumni Association and UND Foundation Board Members are not eligible to receive the award.
- There shall be no posthumous awards.
Recipient Criteria
Sioux Award for Distinguished Achievement and Leadership
- Unwavering commitment to the service of others.
- High achievement throughout one’s chosen career or profession.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Loyalty to the University of North Dakota through the generosity of time, talent, and treasure.
Young Alumni Achievement Award
- High achievement early in one’s chosen career or profession.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Skills that demonstrate one’s potential for leadership/distinction in the long term.
- Substantial indications of a commitment to the service of others.
