Why I Wear Green

Returning to work here and seeing how much campus has grown is truly remarkable. I’m excited to see how we continue to grow in the coming years. Being on campus reminds me of what we do at the UND Alumni Association and Foundation – connect, engage and grow. We connect with students, engage with alumni, and grow the foundation for future generations.

Overview

This isn’t Sam’s first stint as a graphic designer at UNDAAF. Having worked here for nearly a decade, he brings a wealth of graphic design experience and a deep understanding of the University of North Dakota. Sam works on both print and digital marketing projects for the UNDAAF and, with his background in photography, he steps up to handle photo shoots when needed.  

Outside of work, Sam is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and camping. He is also eager to take on new challenges like kayaking and mountain climbing.

Qualifications

• BA, Graphic Design, Minnesota State University Moorhead

Knowledge

As the owner of Melquist Photography, Sam has expanded both his portfolio and his photographic skills. During his first run at the UNDAAF, he enjoyed photographing alums. “Being involved in the interview process and meeting alums in their environment was always inspiring,” he said.
