Why I Wear Green

As a proud UND alum and former student-athlete, my connection to this university runs deep. I played football here, earned my degree here, and met my wife, Annika — also a student-athlete — at UND. After 11 years as a UND Football coach, I’m honored to continue serving the university through the UND Alumni Association & Foundation. UND has given so much to my family and me, and I’m passionate about giving back to the place that shaped our lives.

Overview

As Director of Development for the Nistler College of Business & Public Administration, Joel builds meaningful connections with alumni, helping them stay engaged with their alma mater. These relationships inspire support that drives Nistler’s continued growth and UND’s overall success.

When he’s not working, Joel enjoys watching and attending sporting events and concerts. He likes to spend time with his family; he and Annika have a daughter, Jovi, and a son, Koi.

• B.B.A. Business/Managerial Economics, University of North Dakota

Knowledge

During his 11-year coaching career at UND, Joel recruited student-athletes and built a culture of excellence and teamwork — skills he now brings to alumni engagement and philanthropy. “My ability to connect with individuals, understand their motivations, and align their interests with our college’s goals is rooted in the same principles that guided my coaching career,” he said.
