Why I Wear Green

When I moved from Alaska to Grand Forks to attend UND, I didn't know anyone and was thousands of miles from family and friends. The UND community welcomed me, and campus soon felt like home. I joined the UND Alumni Association & Foundation because I wanted to help create that sense of belonging for other students.

Overview

As Director of Annual Giving, Carly shares stories of UND success, showing alumni and friends how their support strengthens the University. She leads annual giving campaigns across mail, email, and digital channels, finding new ways to connect donors with the people, programs and opportunities that matter most to them. Whether someone is making their first gift or has supported UND for decades, Carly helps them see what their generosity can make possible.

Carly’s home life with partner, Ben, is busy, furry, and never boring. They share it with Murphy, a miniature dachshund, yellow labs Sig and Kayn, and Piper the cat. Carly loves to cook and travel — preferably somewhere sunny and warm, with a good book nearby.

Qualifications

• BA, Social Work with minor in communications, University of North Dakota

Knowledge

Carly joined the UNDAAF in 2022 as associate director of marketing & communications, where she put her writing and storytelling skills to work across the Foundation’s digital platforms. She also played a key role in redesigning the UNDAAF website.
