Why I Serve on the Board of Directors
The University of North Dakota is such a core part of my story. I came from the western part of North Dakota with a deep love of my community, the Badlands, and my family, but I knew if wanted to achieve the goals I set for myself I would need a world-class institution with the right programs to support me. My time at UND was filled with opportunities to learn, explore, and grow as a person. I knew when I graduated that I wanted to give back to my alma mater, so when the opportunity came to serve on the board I didnβt hesitate to volunteer.
How I Provide Opportunities
I currently work closely with a few other groups. I serve as president of Evolve Grand Forks, a nonprofit that helps entrepreneurs take their ideas from start to exit. I also serve on the North Dakota State STEM Ecosystem board. We help North Dakotans engage with and launch STEM activities.
In my free time, I ...
like to mix it up. Firstly I am a major nerd, so I love playing video games, reading, and playing board games. But I also love hiking (especially in the Badlands), swimming, and biking when the weather is nice.
My Favorite UND Memory
My favorite memory at UND was our first every esports tournament held at the Wellness Center. As a team we spent weeks preparing for the launch of UND's first facility. Students from across campus came together to compete and celebrate the launch of our program. It was incredible to see students make new friends, exercise in the Wellness Center, and game all in the same day. Our team worked hard and put on a great launch event. I loved being on the front end of innovation with an alma mater that is focused on providing a great student experience. I still go back to the Wellness Center and remember where it all began.
