Milo Smith

Senior Director of Public Relations

WHY I WEAR GREEN: I enjoy working with a great group of coworkers all focused on the success of UND students, faculty, and staff. It’s so rewarding to interact with students who have benefited from the generosity of our alumni and friends and hear how thankful they are for that support.

As the primary spokesperson and media contact, Milo serves as the voice of the UND Alumni Association & Foundation. Milo has had the pleasure of writing about interesting and successful alumni around the country, creating scripts for major events like Sioux Awards, and producing videos that support our vision of fostering connections, inspiring generosity, and advancing the University of North Dakota.

He has successfully converted his photography hobby into a professional skill. When he’s not shooting photos, you might find him golfing, playing “noon ball” on a YMCA basketball court, or working on various home improvement projects.

• BA, Communication, North Dakota State University

Many alumni and friends remember Milo from his many years of serving the Grand Forks community as a WDAZ News anchor. His experience producing high-impact video has served the UND Alumni Association & Foundation well, and Milo was instrumental in forming the communication plan for the new Nistler College of Business & Public Administration building project. He is gratified by telling the success stories of donors like Werner and Colleen Nistler and inspiring others to give back.

  • Public Relations Committee, Sharon Lutheran Church
  • Former board member, Altru Family YMCA
  • Grand Forks Central Booster Club
  • Volunteer coach, Sunflake Soccer
