Beyond the Pages

Beyond the Pages is a virtual conversation series with University of North Dakota alumni from a variety of fields. This is your chance to get a closer look at the changemakers we’ve featured in the UND Alumni Magazine.

A few years ago, Jill (Owen), ’82, and David Engelstad, ’90, moved to the American Samoa, a U.S. Territory in the South Pacific, where they made headway in their respective fields of physical therapy and engineering. Their story was first featured in the Winter 2020 issue of the UND Alumni Magazine. Working and living in third-world conditions both challenged and inspired the Engelstads. Now back in North Dakota, the couple reflects on their adventure in this month's episode of Beyond the Pages.
