A tool for UND Student Organizations to use to raise funds for special projects and purchases that impact the student experience on campus.

What is Funding Friday?

The Funding Friday program is a tool for student organizations around campus to raise money quickly for a project, idea or just to raise awareness of their organization.

What are appropriate projects?

Projects can be just about anything as long as they impact students, faculty, staff or the UND campus in a positive manner. Projects such as non-educational trips, parties and personal expenses are not accepted.

What is the time frame for a project?

Projects run three days starting on a Friday and ending on the next Sunday.

How are projects determined?

Projects are determinded by the student organizations. Interested student organizations should complete an application using the link below. Their application is reviewed by the UND Alumni Association & Foundation Act. Crowdfunding team. The student organization will be notified within 7 business days of the status of their project.

How is the Goal set?

When you apply, you are asked for your preference of three goals. $250, $500, or $750. When your application is reviewed, your preference, the number of social media channels you have, the size of your organization, as well as past success and failures are all weighed and a recommended goal is set.

I've applied and our project is approved. What's next?

Your project will be given the next available weekend date on the calendar. This could be in two weeks, it could be in two months. Depends on the number of approved applications at any one time. This date will be communicated to you so that you can start planning as well as a friendly url for your project.

What is expected from my student organization?

While the UND Alumni Association & Foundation has the tools to build the project, your organization has the crowd and connections to make the project successful. It is imperative that before completing the application, your memebers are 100% on board with supporting the project by sharing it through their social media and email accounts.

What happens if we don't reach our goal?

If you don't reach your goal, don't worry. If you raised enough to move forward with your plan, then you move forward. If it isn't enough to do any portion of a project, then a refund to the donor may be necessary to preserve donor intent. All attempts will be made to insure that the money raised will be able to be used in some manner to support your organization.

Donor Intent

Donor intent is a biggie. The money raised must only be used to fund the project or purchases that you said they would when you started the project. If you raise too much money, then a discussion can be had on where the excess can be used. If you don't reach your goal, you either purchase what you can or refund the money back to the donor.

Are there fees withheld from our project?

The Funding Friday program follows the same fee policy as the rest of the UND Alumni Association and Foundation funds and programs. This is generally a 5% fee plus 2.9% credit card processing. You can review the full fee policy here.
